The course will emphasize background information necessary for an understanding of molecular photochemistry,especially those related to organic syatems in condensed media.The major  topics will cover:

Organic photochemistry-an overview

Electronic Orbitals,Configurations and States

Transitions between States-Chemical Dynamics

Potential Energy Surfaces

Radiative Transitions-the Absorption and Emission of Light

Photophysical Radiationless Transitions

Theoretical Organic Photochemistry

Mechanistic Organic Photochemistry

Energy Transfer and Electron Transfer Processes

Synthetic Organic Photochemistry(include phoaddition,photosubstitution,

photorearrangements,photocycloaddition,photo-oxidation,photo-reduction,

photoisomerization)

Textbook: include Turro`s revised version of ` Modern Molecular Photochemistry`

and other snthesis textbook.We have also handouts.

Tentatively we have one final exam and one report.
