Research Interests

  • Structural chemistry around a penta-coordinated Fe center.
  • Nucleophilic (h 5-C5H5)-ring alkylation: (h 5-C5H5)Fe(CO)2X and PR¡¦3 by a lithiated reagent RLi, to yield (h 4-RC5H5)Fe(CO)2(PR¡¦3) in which the polarity of reactants is reversed, the bonding of ring to metal changes from (h 5-C5H5) to (h 4-RC5H5), and the oxidation state of metal changes from Fe() to Fe(0).
  • Electron-transfer chain catalysis of selective PR¡¦3 substitution for X- employing the facile 17e--19e- mechanism.
