Lawrence Award, 1981, U.S. Dept. of Energy; Peter Debye Award, 1986, American Chemical Society; National Medal of Science, and Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1986; Faraday Medal, 1992, Royal Society of Chemistry, London.  Member, 1980-; President, 1994-, Academia Sinca.  Distinguished Research Fellow, 1994-, Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Academia Sinica.  Adjunct Professor, 1994-, National Taiwan University.

Research Interests

1. Determine the structure and chemical behavior of highly reactive polyatomic radicals and unusual transient species.
2. Provide microscopic details of mechanisms and dynamics for elementary chemical reactions and primary photodissociation processes.
3. Probe the nature of intra- and intermolecular energy relaxation.
4. Search for bond-selective, regio-selective or mode-selective means to modify and manipulate chemical reactivity.
5. Develop methods for detecting and studying directly the transient intermediates that are critical in combustion and atmospheric processes.
