民國38年生。59年臺灣大學化學系學士,64年美國芝加哥大學博士。64~65年美國西北大學博士後研究,65~69年臺灣大學化學系副教授,69年迄今臺灣大學化學系教授。71年中央研究院化學所合聘研究員,72~73年德國Humboldt Fellow,74~76年代理中研院化學所所長。76~79年台灣大學化學系主任。80年日本分子科學研究所研究。87年中央研究院院士。 
 

研究興趣

1. 具有電子非定域化及氧化還原、光譜、磁性、構造上具特異性之無機錯合物,例如鄰-?二亞胺、二亞胺丁二?及全共軛之大環錯合物。 
2. d10金屬簇錯合物之合成,構造及光化學研究,例如以磺醯胺、多膦基及炔陰基等為橋基之d10金屬簇。 
3. 多核金屬-金屬多重鍵及分子金屬線之研究,例如已合成三到九個金屬串之錯合物。

Research Interests

1. Synthesis and characterizations of metal complexes which have delocalized ground states and possess unusual redox, spectroscopic, magnetic, and structural properties.  e.g. metal complex of o-quinonediimine, diiminosuccino-nitrile, and fully conjugated macrocycles. 
2. Synthesis and structural, photochemical studies of d10 metal clusters.  e.g. d10 metal clusters of sulfonylamido, polyphosphino, and acetylido bridged ligands. 
3. The study of oligonuclear metal-metal multiple bond and molecular metalwire: The number of metal atoms in a string is now up to nine.
